Capita HR solutions was approached by a multi-academy trust (MAT) in April 2016. The MAT is made up of four schools in the Staffordshire area that had come together. Prior to conversion the schools were part of two different local authorities.
Following the conversion, the schools were operating under different terms and conditions and the schools worked in isolation from one another when making staffing decisions. Risks to the MAT included increased costs, inconsistency, difficulty in communicating progress against shared objectives and a lack of central control over people issues. The MAT recognised that there had been instances where better decisions, that would support the whole trust and not just one school, could have been made.
