Each year the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) in conjunction with Simply Health conducts an absence management survey covering a wide range of industries. The recently published 2016 survey results identified the following key points:-
The average number of days’ absence each employee takes fell from 6.9 days in 2015 to 6.3 days in 2016 which is the lowest rate seen for 7 years, however absence rates remain highest in the public sector where employees have, on average, over 3 days more absence per year than those in the private sector.
